"The Hampshire Development and Storm Netball Club Schools/Clubs tournament went ahead in what turned out to be freak weather conditions for October, a brilliantly sunny day.

The invited age groups were based on school years 7 to 10. Due to the number of entries received the age groups ended up being combined into Yrs 7&8 and 9&10.

The teams were offered a full playing day, as indeed were the umpires. 80 minutes for the younger players & 120 minutes for the older age group.

At the end of the tournament the winners were:
Yr 7/8 section, Newbury Juniors NC Yr8 with a 100% success rate and max. points
Yr 9/10 section Robert Mays School Yr10 with a score of 57 points out of 60.
Well done to both teams.

My thanks to all the entrants to the tournament, to the school teams that played at a weekend and their coaches/team managers who accompanied them. To Newbury Juniors for their excellent play to all those that found themselves unexpectedly umpiring and to the Storm volunteers. Charles who ended up as timekeeper &  Rolf for manning the kitchen and passing out the bacon butties & teas.

Thanks also to Hampshire Netball Development, who kindly agreed to partner this tournament and add their name to to the invitations sent out to all potential entrants. And also for inviting the participants of the Hampshire Young Officials Programme (YOPs) umpiring course sponsored by Active Sports to umpire at the tournament.

Final thanks to Claire & Hannah from the YOPs course who turned up and umpired for the day. We look forward to both of them officiating at the Storm Charity tournament on November 10th."

24/09/2002: STORM Force 12 have hard start to the season in the Basingstoek Junior League.  STORM 6 - 24 BUGS  Results and comment 

We are in the process of setting it up, and it should start late October at Vyners School, Hillingdon, playing on Sunday afternoons. We will shortly be putting out some advertising info to get some more teams to sign up - it should be good, and it's even INDOORS! :-))) We hope to have a dozen teams for the first season, but we can take more if the demand is there. Both newcomers to mixed and experienced teams will be welcome, we will also try to place individuals who want to play but don't know of a suitable mixed team.

Name will probably be the MNA West London League - but this is tbc.

Will send you the full details when done - probably about a week from now.  In the interim feel free to put the word around... anyone wanting to register an interest early can get in touch with me. Eventually there will be a website... Eventually!

Stacie Finn who passed her Umpiring Test on her first attempt recently has been nominated Team Captain of the Under 16's Squad. Stacie's commitment to Storm has been admirable over the last 3 years and she is developing into a fine young woman showing much improved netball skills and for a team captain good leadership skills.

... and an U13/U14/U15 team into the U16 tournament -the girls battled wonderfully against U16 teams all day and finished a creditable 4th

... and Thanks to Craig, who managed the U13 side, even though Sarah was not playing & to e Tracey, who managed the U16 side even though Stacie was not playing.  Also to Jenny who made a gust appearance from Wokingham to make up the STORM U16 team.
