Safari Menus (back to index)
It is useful to be aware of some of the menu options within Safari. Click the options below for more information.
Safari Menu - view preferences, block popups, clear cache
History Menu - view and delete history
Window Menu - view downloads and browser activity
About Safari -
shows the current version of the application
Preferences... - shows the preferences panel
Reset Safari... - resets all user settings
Empty Cache - clears the browser cache (recommend a relaunch of Safari after
doing this)

This window shows Safari's current version number.

Click Reset to reset the Safari settings listed below.

Click Empty to clear the Safari cache. It is recommended to relaunch Safari after doing this.

SnapBack - this special feature marks a page as an anchor to which you can
always jump back.
Clear History - deletes all history from this menu (and removes autocomplete
entries in Address Bar).

Downloads - shows a list of recent downloads (click here for an
example).
Activity - shows a breakdown of browser activity (click here for an
example).

This is Safari's very simple download manager. Files can be set to clear themselves out of the download manager manually or automatically. Clicking the magnifying glass will switch to the Finder environment and take you to the location of the downloaded file.

This shows a breakdown of all components that Safari is trying to access at any one time. The list should be self-explanatory, and any of the components in the list can be accessed directly simply through a double-click.
