Outlook Express 5 Identities

Outlook Express 5 uses an Identities folder that is stored in one of two places...

1. Mac HD:Documents:Microsoft User Data:Identities:
2. Mac HD:[path to OE application folder]:Identities:

Pathway (1) is far more common, particularly on OS 9.x machines, and is illustrated below.

The files of interest within the Main Identity shown below are as follows...

• Database - stores messages and address book content
• Mailing Lists - stores all mailing list information (delete this if OE does not start and reports that Mailing Lists are corrupt)
• Messages - stores messages and address book content
• Preferences - controls all settings in Tools > Accounts
• Rules - controls Tools > Rules (delete this if OE does not start and reports that Rules are corrupt)
• Schedules - controls Tools > Schedules such as repeating send & receive schedules (delete this if OE does not start and reports that Schedules are corrupt)
