Outlook Express 5.x Error -3279 and Error -3280

"A strange networking error occurred"

Quit Outlook Express, relaunch the application and try again. If this fails, try the following...

  1. Quit Outlook Express 
  2. Check TCP/IP settings (Apple > Control Panels > TCP/IP
  3. Dump Mac HD > System Folder > MacTCP DNR 
  4. Reboot and try to receive mail again

In rare circumstances, the error can be put down to a corruption in the mail account, so recreate as usual if the above fails.
