About SSBB

Stockport Schools' Brass Bands were formed back in 1978 and comprised a Senior Band under the baton of  Bob Wyatt, with a Preparatory Band conducted by Mike Greaves.

In 1991, after a change in policy within the SMBC (Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council) Music Department following the Education Reform Act, it was decided to form the Stockport School's Brass Bands Parents Association to take over the actual running of the bands. SMBC still give us an annual grant that goes someway to helping finance the running costs. The rest is raised via subscription, contest awards and fund-raising events.

SSBB currently comprises the Senior Band, Intermediate Band and the Junior Band.
