Bob Jones in his Porsche RSK

I purchased this car from a guy living in the Los Angeles area when I was racing
with Northern California SCCA. I used to be head of the Racing Drivers School
and had many opportunities to drive a variety of cars.
After all of that I really felt that the Porsche RSK would be the most
fun car to race.
So...I raced it at Laguna Seca, Vacaville, Cotati, Sears, etc.
It was a giant killer on tight tracks.
Eventually the Elva-Porsches were a little faster than the Spyder.
It was kind of a battle between aluminum and fiberglass!

.
The person that I sold the car to flared the fenders so that we could mount
12" tires in the rear, and 10" in the front.
It went around corners like a go-kart!
At the Sears 4 hour enduro we came in 2nd overall.
One more lap would have put us in first overall as the lead car (Lukes and
Shorman) was having problems.
The car is now owned by Jerry Seinfeld.
He reportedly paid lots of $$$$$$ for it.

I've attached a photo of me in the Spyder. The photo includes a ticket from
the August 1998 Historic Race featuring Porsche as the main marque.
The #19 car (my old Spyder) was featured on the entrance tickets.
After it's extensive rebuild it is now considered the finest example, of this
model, in the world.
I heard that the Porsche Museum tried to purchase it a few years ago but
was turned down. The owner at that time had sold them the winning 550
Spyder of the Pan American race a couple of years earlier.
If you want to read a great restoration article on this car refer to page
125 of December 1997 Excellence magazine.
The title of the article is "A Matter of Philosophy".
