Notes
General:
Hello Terry I am sorry to hear that you have been unwell I hope it was nothing serious, the good thing about the surname Keeper is it isn't a name you can easily mispell unlike what you found with Worladge or your name Worledge, it is funny we seem to credit most of our ancestors with the ability to spell but most of them couldn't. I recently recieved a certificate back for an Elizabeth Thorpe marriage (which is on my mothers side) and was surprised to find in 1882 when she married that she had to sign her mark, I couldn't understand why especially seeing as both her parents could spell and my Great Grandfather (her brother) could as well.
Funnily enough I sent off for two Harwood marriages and I wasn't sure if it would be ours but it would appear to be the case. Anyway 18 year old Elizabeth Harwood who I believe is living with her brother James on the 1881 census married November 15th 1885, Hackney to 19 year old George Carr, he was a labourer and gave his address as 5 Caroline Cottages, Clapton and she gave her address as 8 Rossington Street, Clapton which is where her mother Mary Ravenscroft (Harwood) had died in 1891, well 8 1/2 actually but I am guessing it is the same difference, she has put her father as James Harwood, dead, he put his father as William Carr also dead. George had to sign his mark but Elizabeth didn't. Their witnesses were Mary Harwood and Elizabeth Moseley who both signed their mark.
The second certificate was Emma Harwood who was 22 when she married Thomas Wealstead aged 26 on 7th August 1887, he was a carman and they both gave 91 Olinda Road, Stamford Hill as their address, the interesting thing is that Emma gave her father as James Harwood a labourer who wasn't indicated as dead even though her marriage was almost 2 years after Elizabeth's and the other interesting thing is that Thomas gave his father as dead but conveniently chose not to name him. Frederick Henman and Harriett (that is how her name was spelt) Harwood who I believe was another sister were their witnesses, nobody had to sign their name anyway bye for now Terry and thanks for the e-mail from Mark.
