Download Now! (54kB) The RColours Program
RColours is a program for Electronics hobbyists.  It will convert a given value into the colour bands that are used to represent that value or it will display the value represented by the given colour bands.

This is the program's main screen:
RColours Main screen

The "Tolerance Band" button opens a dialogue listing the colours used to represent tolerances from 20% down to 0.05%. Although it is rare, some resistors have a sixth band that represents their temperature coefficient. The "Got a 6th Band" button opens a dialogue that lists the colours used from 100ppm/°C down to 1ppm/°C

You are welcome to download the latest version (1.02) of the program now (54KB).  Installation is simply a matter of expanding the ZIP file into a directory of your choice. A help file is included.

New in RColours V1.02:
  1. The program now behaves correctly on systems where the decimal point character has been defined as something other than '.'
  2. User interface colours now obey system colour choice!

This program has been written using Microsoft Visual Basic version 3.0, so it will run under 16 or 32 bit Windows operating systems (Windows 3.x or Windows 95/98/Me and NT/2000).  It has been tested on Windows 3.1, 95, 98, Me and NT 4.0.

If you do not already have the file "VBRun300.DLL" on your machine (probably in the "Windows\System" directory) then you will need to obtain a copy from Microsoft (226K). If that fails try searching the web for "VBrun300" or e-mailing me and I'll send you a copy.

RColours is Freeware so no registration is required.  If you wish to Suggest improvements or report any problems I will be pleased to hear from you.
