Large Ammonites

I have one or two large ammonites that I am working on at the moment, but I only have a few pictures of this one. It is quite large as you can see and come from the Isle of Wight. This is another one of my swap's from a friend, think this one cost me a book as well. The trouble with these ammonites is that the centres are very really preserved so you basically have to carve them back in. The centre was marked out roughly with one of Kens HD pens and then a quarter inch die grinder was used to start the inner whorls.

Just roughing this big one out.

Getting better now, look at those lovely inflated ribs on the outer whorl.
