I've never driven to the Isle of Wight rink. When we've taken a coach it's docked the other side of the island and driven to the rink in Ryde. If you are getting there yourself, the thing to do is to take the foot passenger ferry from Portsmouth, which drops you off at the end of the pier. From there you get on a local railway made from old London tube rolling stock to the other end of the pier, a stone's throw from the rink. Alternatively take the hovercraft which rolls up onto the beach right outside the rink.
