There's two sorts of kit - the armour and the soft stuff. The first picture shows mainly soft stuff. There is no need to get special socks or sweatsuit at first. Plenty of kids use old pyjamas or tee-shirt and long-johns. The second picture shows the hard stuff, and you need to have it all before you get on the ice.
