Maths Tuition in Oxford from an Oxford graduate As
an experienced teacher, tutor and parent, I offer maths tuition on an individual basis from my home in
Central North Oxford, just off the Woodstock Road, near St Anne's College. Below
is an outline of what I can do for you or your child. Each section has more
details on another page. Just follow the links on the headings or the side. What level?
I
mainly teach at A level, having the full worked past papers of all the
popular boards. This includes Further Maths and preparation for
Cambridge STEP or Oxford entrance exams. I also teach GCSE
and IGCSE at Higher level. I am
happy to teach pupils of year 10 and below in half terms and holidays, but not
usually on a regular basis in term time. I also teach numeracy skills to adults,
when they are required for qualifications. Why have tuition and how is it given? Maths is a
subject in which it is very easy to lose confidence. Equally it is easy
to restore it with individual tuition, where the work is covered at the
student's pace and not that of the class. I teach from my home at 62 St Bernard’s Road,
Oxford OX2 6EJ.
When?
I am available throughout
the day and early evening, and also for some time at weekends. Over the
time I have been working as a private tutor, I have seen a wide variety of
students of all ages and abilities. During their time with me, either
for a few lessons or over a year or more, I have watched their confidence
grow. In some
cases as well as having difficulties with the subject, they had lost interest
in it, due to large classes or poor teaching. I have found it
stimulating to rekindle their enthusiasm for a subject, which is so often
perceived as tedious. As a
consequence with renewed understanding, confidence and interest, their
results in class and exams improve considerably. I have a
degree in Mathematics from Oxford University and also a Post Graduate
Certificate in Education. I have
taught in Oxford schools for many years, and my children have been to school
locally, so I am familiar with the demands of the curriculum, both nationally
and locally. I have been working as a private tutor for over seven years and in that time I have taught students from almost every school in Oxford and round about. I
hold an Enhanced Disclosure from the CRB I generally charge forty pounds an hour. For A level
students in certain financial circumstances I will reduce my weekly
charge. This links to tutors
in other subjects. Please feel
free to ring me to discuss your requirements in greater depth. My phone
number is 01865 511318 or you can e-mail me at sueclear@clearmaths.co.uk
