About
the set
The
action of the play takes place in a seedy bar. It is off the main
street, a place where you have to detour to get to. A place you go
either before or after you've been someplace else. There is a path
that runs around the raked area. The floor is dry earth. The walls are
purple and green, like bruising on a corpse. There is a void in the
wall that has been prepared to receive something, but you can't reach
up to it. There are a lot of lights on scaffolding at stage-right,
some of them have been in use for many years, helping to illuminate
the stories and fantasies that the people in the bar have told. You
hear some more of these during the play
