The Guild was launched a decade ago by a group of antiques dealers and restorers who believed then and still believe that there is a need for an association to serve the antiques trade as a whole. The Guild is drawing its membership from across the complete spectrum of businesses - small, medium and large.

In particular, the Guild performs an important function as a one-stop-shop for members of the public seeking to have antiques restored by quality craftsmen and restorers. The Guild acts as a focal point for restoration, receiving enquiries from the general public and identifying restoration experts from within its members who can carry out the repairs or restoration required - benefiting both the general public and members of the Guild.

The Guild further aims to assist members in the successful operation of their businesses, and seeks to raise the general standard of the trade.

To this end, the Guild's objectives are:

  1. To publicise and promote the image and standards of the Guild, thus creating public awareness of GADAR and its members.
  2. From its broad base, to represent its members views wherever their interests are involved.
  3. To assist members with information and advice which will benefit them in their day to day trading.
  4. To ensure that the Guild logo will be accepted by the public as a sign of integrity and service, as has been proven over the last decade.
  5. To run the Guild as a non profit making organisation, thus ensuring maximum benefits to its members.
