“Hi, we are Debbie and Stuart Tranter and we live in the small market town of Raunds in Northamptonshire with our two young children.
Early In 2006 we decided to put our experience and love of dancing to good use and open a Dancing School, to teach Ballroom and Latin American, here in Raunds. Below is a brief description of our achievements and experience........
...........Debbie started dancing at the age of 7, with Stuart starting much later at the age of 13.
We both went through a series of medallist exams in Ballroom and Latin American, with Debbie achieving Star 3 with distinction and Stuart, Gold bar 3 also with distinction in both styles.
We also competed at the Midland area IDTA medallist of the year competitions with Stuart winning the under 21 man in both Ballroom and Latin American. Stuart also came 2nd in Ballroom and 3rd in the Latin American sections at the National finals of the Medallist of the year.
After this Debbie carried on as a medallist helping Her school to teach and also taking an interest in disco dancing competitions, while Stuart started dancing open competitions with His sister. Together with his sister Stuart won many open competitions at national level and competed successfully at the Blackpool open held in May every year finishing in the top 100 couples out of a starting line up of 400 plus couples.
Stuart's sister decided to take up a career in music and went to university to study. Stuart danced with a number of different partners until he finally met up with Debbie on a cold March day in 1988. After a lesson and practice session together we decided to dance together and started competing in open competition. We also had a successful partnership winning many competitions in both styles. The pinnacle of our careers was when we won the All England Amateur 10 dance competition receiving official recognition from the English Amateur Dancers Association. We also competed in the difficult May open competition and achieved top 100 status.
It was during this period that we joined the Midland Amateur Dance club dancing in many team matches not only up and down the country but also around Europe and Russia. We have danced in Antwerp on the same team as the well-known Anton Du Beke. We were also included in the first team of dancers to be invited to dance and represent England in Russia. This was an eleven day trip and as well as dancing on Russian television we were given the opportunity to see Russia just after Perestroika. We have won competitions in the UK that have given us holidays to Spain. As amateurs we were also honoured to be invited to the EADA British squad training at Crystal Palace to be trained by Robert Grover and Harry Smith Hampshire. We also became committee members of the MAD club organizing team matches and with Stuart becoming treasurer.
We have also demonstrated as professional and amateur dancers for many different medallist schools up and down the Country.
Inevitably when spending so much time together the partnership becomes more than just a dancing arrangement and in 1995 we decided to marry. As we were setting up home together and raising a family the dancing has very much taken a back seat. With our two children now reaching an age where they could come along we have decided to share what we have spent so many years learning with other like-minded individuals.
We hope that you enjoy dancing as much as we have over the years.
