Some operators seem to think that the peak season is in the middle of the summer holidays with customer numbers slowly building up to the peak and then slowly declining.
They don't seem to realise that families go on holidays when the schools are on holidays.
They don't seem to realise that May half term holiday is a popular time for families to go holiday and travel on their trains.
Thus trains are overcrowded, with people 'giving up' because they can't find a seat. People who do get on board have their day spoilt.
Operators guilty of this heinous crime are :-
Daddy also felt that the Ffestiniog Railway deserved one of his rants, but a nice man from the railway emailed Daddy and me and said they do put on extra trains during half-term and they couldn't add any more coaches that day. When we went back during another May half term holiday, on the day we visited (a Thursday) it seemed quieter with room on the train.
