Their Website :- Welsh Highland Railway
Very friendly. Nice way to spend an hour. A very short ride, but loads to play with at the first stop.
It is very clearly the 'poorer cousin' of the Ffestinog railway at the other end of town, but they seem proud of what they have.

Porthmadog Station |
Porthmadog : Start and end point. Has shop and cafe.
Gelerts Farm Works : Engine shed. Loads of old trains to climb over. The staff show you around.
Pen-Y-Mount : Engine turning point. Replica old station. They showed us how to change the points.
Didn't ride the first time we visited, but it was nice seeing Russell pull out of the station.
Second time, it was a short ride, but with the two stops and exploring it takes 45 minutes.

Russell |
We saw Russell their famous engine on both visits.
Seemed new and purpose built. Very nice.
Lots of stuff to look at and and play with.
The engine shed has a few displays.
A very large shop with two nice old ladies, but there wasn't much stock.
Didn't try.
Not tested.
I spy sheet for children.
Nice book about Russell.
