Summary

Not a preserved railway, but a small tourist narrow gauge line, built on the track bed of an old GWR line. It's off the beaten track, along side Bala Lake

Maid Marian at Bala Station

Maid Marian at Bala Station

Site

Two small stations and a couple of halts.

Ride

4½ miles mostly alongside the lake in a straight line.  Nothing significant at either end, so you just come back ! It was exciting chasing sheep along the line !

Engines

Three steam and two diesel. We were pulled by Maid Marian.

Rolling Stock

Specially built carriages, with doors on the lake side only.

Engine Shed

At Llanuwchllyn. Not sure of you were meant to go in, but we did anyway. Not very big (they only have 5 small engines !)

None.

Shop

At Llanuwchllyn.  Seemed to be aimed at tourists, so it had a large collection of tea-towels !

Catering

Combined with the shop at Llanuwchllyn.  Mainly cakes and tea.

Toilets

Old Fashioned & OK.

Other Facilities

Signal box at Llanuwchllyn.

Nice guide book.
