Here's a guide around the Park
|
|
The Entrance |
Entrance
It's on the B3022 Bracknell / Ascot road two miles from
Windsor. Follow signs from the M4. Expect traffic queues both on
arrival and departure. The adventurous coming from the West may like to go via
Bracknell to avoid the queue to and from the M4.
Drive through the entrance from the roundabout and follow the
road up the hill. All car parks are within easy walking distance
of the gates. Don't bother paying extra for the "Preferred
Parking". Remember where you parked ! (Daddy forgot once)

View from the beginning |
The Beginning.
If you aren't given one on entrance, make sure you pick up a
park guide. A map is in the centre pages. Also pick up a single
piece of paper giving the show times of the four shows. Look down
over the park and get your bearings.
The park is split into 9 areas, most of which are based on a range of Lego sets. You're in
'The Beginning'. The attractions here are
Look down on the areas and get your bearings.
The other eight areas are :-
|
Imagination Centre
The attractions here are
- Large rooms filled with Lego and Duplo.
- Space Tower
- Sky Rider
- 'Imagination Theatre' which currently is showing "Lego Racers
4D"

|
Eurostar in Miniland |
Miniland
The famous "World In Miniature" (actually it's mainly Europe). I love to just sit and watch the trains go
by. Daddy found the whole area was far more interesting
than he expected !
|
|
|
The Duplo Train |
Duplo Land.
This area is for younger children. The
rides, activities and shows here include
- The Fairy Tale Boat ride (one of my favourites)
- Whirly Birds helicopter ride
- Young adventure playground
- Miniature train
ride (one of my favourites when I was younger).
- Willow Stage - which regularly shows puppet shows.
- Water Works - great fun on a hot day.
- The Extreme Team challenge - which is a little out of place here, but
they needed a steep hill to slide down !
|
|
|
The Pirate Falls |
Wild Woods
For slightly older children. The rides and activities include
- The very popular Pirate Falls log flume
- The Rat Trap, an adventure playground for older children
- The Spinning Spider - which Daddy says makes him feel sick, so I go on
with Mummy.
- Panning for Gold - this costs extra, but you get a medal.

Me at the Lego Driving School when I was younger |
|
|
|

|
|
Fire Academy |
Traffic
This consists of five driving areas :-
- Driving School - Cars for 6-13yrs
- L-Drivers - Cars for 3-5 yrs
- Boating School
- Balloon School
- Fire Academy
For the 6-12 year old car drivers, they get to watch a 'rules of the
road' video beforehand.
You really steer the boats in the boat ride. It's not as easy as
it looks !
The Balloon School and Fire Academy is a little up the hill from the rest of the areas.
The Fire Academy is a strange ride. It needs the whole family
! First everyone pumps the engine to the fire. Then they pump
the water at the fire. Then they pump the engine back ! |
|
|
Giant Fish in The Big Restaurant |
Lego City
Previously called "My Town", this area includes :-
- Orient Expedition (Train ride)
- Fairground rides
- The Harbour show
- The Big Restaurant
- Indoor walk through attractions
|
|
|
The Dragon's Apprentice |
Knights Kingdom
This was the first large extension to Legoland and was originally called
Castleland. It contains :-
- The two Dragon Rides.
- In addition there are lots of quiet areas to sit and rest
awhile.
|
|
|
Me and Mummy on the Wave Surfer |
Adventure Land
The newest area of all and includes :-
- The biggest ride in the park - the Jungle Coaster.
- The Wave Surfer
ride. The ride is faster than it looks and observers can try and
fire water at the riders.
- Climbing Wall
|
- There is a train running to and from the top of the hill
down to the centre of the park.
- There is also a 'loop' train in Lego City called the 'Orient
Expedition'.
 |
|
Balloon School |
What seemed most popular (i.e. had the longest queues)
- Jungle Coaster
- Lego Traffic Cars (6-12 yrs)
- Lego Traffic Boats
- Pirate Falls
- Dragon Ride
- Anything new this year
What some people I've talked to thought disappointing
- Enchanted Forest
- Harbour show (some years are better than others)
- Creation Centre
Things that cost more after entrance
- Gold Rush - Panning for gold.
- Photos of your ride on the Log Plume, Jungle Coaster or either of the two Dragon rides.
- Talking Telescopes
- Climbing Wall
Food
There are 10 places to eat. They are not cheap, but are
excellent quality. All are crowded at lunchtime. The largest is by
the harbour. The Pit Stop Diner is very the quiet at lunchtime, but the choice
isn't as good as some of the others.
The pizzas are great !
Picnics are welcome, with loads of places to eat your own
sandwiches !
