Their Website : Bekonscot Model Village

After hot car journey and a struggle parking (a problem which Daddy had been warned about - the free parking behind the church is very popular), we wandered across the road into Bekonscot model village.

Even though I knew it had been built in somebody's back garden, it's surprisingly small, and you can see the whole thing from the entrance.  Daddy was worried that we'd be through it like a flash.  However there's lots to look at, and I liked just waiting and watching the trains go by.  Everything (except for the football stadium) is as if it were a model of a 1930's village.  There are old shops, old cars and even old airplanes at the airport.  As well as the trains, a few other bits move as well.  I liked the coal mine.

The trains are the best bit.  They are 'one' gauge and so are far bigger than my train set at home.  They seemed quite old and a bit battered.  I liked the announcements coming from the stations.  I also liked the trams.

There was also a play ground and plenty of seats all tucked into one corner.  After a rest and an ice cream, we went around again.  Then we went home.

Shop : One, small - in a railway carriage, but I didn't get anything.

Crowds : Very crowded, but thanks to good crowd control and clear directions it didn't spoil it too much.

Best Bit : Trains

Worst Bit : Crowds

Dad's Comment : Younger boys will like following the trains, older ones could get bored easily.
