The trip involves a leisurely punt along the upper Cam away from the bustle of the Backs, with a pic-nic on the banks, followed by a game of softball. We punt on to Grantchester for a visit to one of the pubs there, and then back to Cambridge for dinner. We hire a few boats from Scudamore's at their boatyard above the rollers which is at the corner of Mill Lane (but not their punt station on the Backs). The meeting point for Huggins Tours is on the bridge overlooking the Mill Pool, between Scudamore's boatyard and Scudamore's punt station. We start punting at 11, so you should arrive by 10:45 so that punting groups can be organised. There is ample free parking along Grange Road, to the West of the City, though it's about half a mile from the punts. How to get there |
