About Manor Light Opera

The Society was founded, as the Manor House Hospital Operatic Society, in 1954 by the late Jesse Huggins and the late Muriel Woodall to encourage the operatic and musical talents in the Hampstead area, whilst raising money for the Manor House Hospital. The Society usually concentrates on one main show a year, performed in May, and from 1960 to 1999 the productions were held in the Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute. The change of venue to the Steiner Theatre has coincided with the closure of Manor House Hospital. At the same time, the opportunity has been taken to change the name and widen the Society's ability to support other charities.

The Society has a busy social calendar which includes barn dances, barbecue, theatre visits, quizzes, treasure hunts, country walks etc. New members are always welcome, on and off stage. Please contact the Chairman, tel. no. 020 8346 3244, if you would like to help.
