Notes on calendar

Times - Start time usually fixed, End time often depends on amount of interest / general fatigue. Time in brackets is the set-up time for sellers.

If you are travelling a long way or feel a bit unsure, by all means contact the organiser. It is quite rare for an event to be cancelled but I expect organisers would contact me and I will immediately announce the changes in the news section; and here in red lettering. Information is checked as much as possible, edited according to organsisers' requests and given here in good faith.

free with program

The York Rally is back for 2015, and with it the traditional Saddlebag Sale! Details: Website
(formerly the CTC York Rally it now run by a volunteer committee and not the CTC)
(It seems to be mixture of the "old CTC" and newer, more modern features : my words)
Sellers: 10 AM Tables £10.
50 tables available, first come first served.
Online table booking available on the website: www.yorkrally.org/saddlebag
Link to Saddlebag sale postal booking
Buyers: 11 AM Entry free with show programme (costs £1) else £1.
The whole event is non-profit making and is run entirely by volunteers - brilliant effort.
Notes on getting there
From the North : by car Suggest avoiding York centre, come off the A1(M) at the A59, follow that into York
then turn right into Dalton terrace just across Holgate Bridge (over the railway line), then right
again onto Tadcaster Rd, then left onto Knavesmire Rd.
From the south : by car simpler to come off the A64 and go down the A1036 Tadcaster Road, then turn right into Knavesmire Rd:
Previously suggested cycling route. From York Centre or Bishopthorpe
from South. Through Bishopthorpe itself. There's now a 20mph zone with some fairly harsh speed bumps.

In an attempt to get more people attending (ie more than one) the 2013 event is combined
with an experience which will be long in the memory, and indeed in duration.
Jumblers will be taken on the fabulous Trans-Siberian Railway.
Departure is to be at 3am of April 1st from Moscow's Vlad Impæla Station in
un-reserved 3rd class carriages.
After 3 days you will disembark for an hour at Rhå t Særse. A fairly warm reception
will await you. The hall has all mod-cons including heating and copious amounts
of Slivovich and Gutrotski vodka.
On day ten* you will alight at SûkBaatar where the comforts of the Bolshoi
Communist Hall will be welcomed.
When the furious 2 hours of bartering over cotter pins is over, you will be carried
back to the train on yaks.
The train will continue through Bakkov Biyonde to its final destination Vladivostok
which should be reached within 16 days**.
Bikes may be lashed to the roof - please be alerted to announcement in Russian of passage under
low bridges. (When You might like to remove your bikes for a while)

will want to linger and enjoy the friendly Mongolian hospitality, Bakshish,
boiled camel's ear soup and 100% potent brews.

in Gormghast Sodbod (East):-

Sellers: £1 per lot entered + 10% commission.
Buyers: 50p entrance + 10% commission
Notes Something a little bit different here - an auction
Generally, the idea is that sellers bring stuff in the morning, viewing
at lunchtime, auction in the afternoon.
We have been running monthly auctions as a hobby for ten years!
After much arm twisting and cooking them a Chinese meal, my colleagues
have agreed to run a specialists section for cyclists this June at a
lovely location currently on dry land above the River Itchen.
For this first one we are aiming for 100-150 lots.
There will be about 400 lots in our general sale from 14:00.
Although we serve excellent home made fare we respect the need for chips
and beer at the adjacent pub. (that's where we go afterwards).
There are great walks around the Itchen Valley to more pubs and lovely
cycling in quiet country lanes to more pubs. No shop or cash machine in
the village, please top up before coming.
General info: click here

Sellers can upload photos and descriptions of items prior
to the auction using the link below.
Potential buyers can see some of what is for sale. We may still accept
lots arriving on the day before 10:30.
Cycles and parts expected at the sale:

Eureka!    Eroica    L'Eroica     L'Eroica Britanannia

The Event

L'Eroica is a huge continental bonanza cycle event; a bit like like the CTC rallies but on a grander scale, with much variety and international flavour. It is to be held in the showground in magnificent Bakewell, Derbyshire, in the heart of the Peak District, from Friday 20th to 22nd June 2014. Camping and a whole array of exotic bike-orientated entertainment is on offer.
The UK event has a limit of 2000 and that number has nearly been reached.
For further details of the event see the News section of this website and use the link below to the inspiring L'Eroica website. To be a participant / possible buyer you must be a registered attendee, you can't just turn up. If you are interested in registering for the (whole weekend) event, delay not ....

[link to L'Eroica website]

L'Eroica Bike Jumble : Sellers information

Bike jumbles are an important traditional part of L'Eroica with many visitors wanting to have a chance of getting that treasured whatsit they have been seeking for years. The buyers will be predominantly interested in older bikes so carbon fibre frames, the latest 13-speed groupset or Lycra gear is unlikely to be of much interest. The launch of a jumble has been left rather late, however, the organisers recognise it's importance as a key part of the event. I have been asked to organise it. Proposed attendees will need to register but initially requested to contact me to express your interest, time and space requirements. It will not be possible to attend without registering with me. The very good news is that there will be no charge for sellers. It's our goal to make this annually reoccurring jumble one of the most successful around. Here are some details. • 1500 people camping on-site.

  • li>The intense periods would be Friday evening / Saturday all day
  • Camping space / pitches for vehicles etc. Available.
  • No tables / displays provided; you will just get a space of the size you request. (it is possible to hire tables from the Events team
