Status as of 20th October 2008

Some of the work is ahead of the revised schedule.  Temporary lights have been installed to carry out the work at the Stoughton Road junction.  The one-way remains in place because of some issues with access for local residents.

SGN may also be working in Harts, Gardens, all of Waltham Ave and Grange Close but we don't have firm confirmation of this as yet.

If you have any queries or difficulties caused by the works please do not hesitate to contact the Morrison Agent Mr Chris Clark on 07775820397 or the SGN team Manager Mr Steve Munslow on 07899060853. Alternatively leave a message on 020 8684 5600 and one of the SGN team will call you back.

SGN have had difficulty in finding a route for the new gas main causing an overrun beyond start of school term 4th September.   SGN moved in additional teams in to attempt to clear the Grange Rd section. When this is finished, the one-way system will be removed and a temporary 4 way light system used to allow work on the Stoughton Road junction which will take up to 4 weeks.

A section from the junction of Waltham Avenue to approximately outside number 139 Grange Road will be carried out under two way traffic signals, which SGN anticipate will take approximately 3 weeks to complete.

SCA letterdrop ~ Grange Road Roadworks to OverRun

Southern Gas Network (SGN) estimate that there is a further 3-4 months of work to do, which could delay completion to the end of the year.  The programme is approximately as follows:

1)   By the time school term starts 4th September the works will be clear of Northmead School entrance.  The one-way system will operate between Northmead School and the Stoughton Road crossroads.  North of Northmead School Grange Road will be two-way.

2)   During September and October, SGN will work southwards towards Stoughton Road crossroads.

3)   There are significant works to do at the Stoughton Road crossroads itself, to connect the new main running down Grange Road to existing mains in Stoughton Road - most of these works will be managed using the existing permanent traffic signals - however there is approximately 1 week's work to cross the junction itself, which will be managed under temporary 4-way traffic signals - this latter element is by far the most disruptive, and so is programmed for half term.

4)   After half-term, there is a further 150m long section of main to lay in Grange Road, in the section between Harts Gardens and Railton Road - this will be done using temporary two-way traffic signals.

5)   Again after half term, there will be works in side roads adjoining Grange Road.
