Proposed QEP Anti-Ratrun Scheme
This scheme was proposed as part of the commercial centre application 02/P/01632 in October 2002 as a means of discouraging drivers using Tylehost and Railton Road as a rat-run between Worplesdon Road and Grange Road. Prior to this proposal, the masterplan intended a bus-only route with a bus-gate at the end of Tylehost, however Terrace Hill subsequently insisted on the commercial area being freely accessible, so traffic consultants CBP came up with this scheme instead. The developers intend to implement the "banned right turn" after site development is completed. The drawing below is an extract from the developer's proposal for the commercial centre.
