Fun Day and Stroll About

A message sent on behalf of Sheila Willis, your PCSO.

Please put the Fun Day and Stroll About in your diary Sat June 28th and come and join in the fun. The walks, fun afternoon and barn dance are open to all, not just Stoughton residents.

There are 3 walks for you to join in, all starting at Northmead School.  These will take you around Stoughton where you will see at various staffed stations some wonderful photos and postcards and obtain fascinating information of what the area was like in the past. Come and join in this journey, it has certainly been an eye-opener for myself.  David Rose, our local historian, and his team have put together a wealth of information for you to see.

You can register on the day but by putting your name down in advance. The first 250 persons will receive a free goody bag.

The longer walk is just over 5 miles and you will need to register between 10.30am and 11am at Northmead School to do this one. This route will take you over the common and out into the countryside. The medium walk is approx 4 miles long and you will need to register between 10.30 and 11.30 at Northmead School . The shorter route is 2.3 miles and suitable for families, you can register between 10.30 and 1pm for this one.  There will be spot it charts for the children to complete on the shorter route.

Sausage sarnies and bacon butties will be served from 10am until noon so you can get your strength up before you set off!!

David has also put together an extensive exhibition of photos and information for you all to see at Northmead School.  This will be part of the fun afternoon celebrations. So if you are not walking the routes or want to see more fantastic historical items come along in the afternoon between 1pm and 3.30pm.

As you can see from the poster there are lots of things going on in the afternoon.  It is free to come in, so come and have a fun filled afternoon.

The Family Barn Dance is running from 7pm until 10.30pm.  With one child free under 14 years with every adult ticket.

Enter the adult and children competitions that will be exhibited in the main hall at Northmead.  There is a show schedule with all the details and entry form available, just ring the box office.  Come on all you men, enter the rock cake competition (recipe supplied)!   All free to enter and medals etc to be won.

There is an afternoon tea at Emmanuel church for the senior residents of the policing ward of Stoughton with musical entertainment and a chance to see the flower festival  plus photos of Stoughton yesteryear. Transport has been booked so call John or Aretia 01483 561603 now. Places must be booked in advance.

All the team have been working very hard.  So please come, and lets put Stoughton on the map!!

Don’t forget if possible register for the walks now!!  This will give us an idea as to the volume of walkers to expect and you will receive a goody bag!!!
