Friends of Stoughton

We need your help.  Firstly, if you know any elderly person who perhaps has no family nearby and you feel would benefit from having more contact outside of their homes then please let us know.  Secondly, if you would like to help one Sunday afternoon a month, by driving elderly people to a volunteer’s home for tea, cakes, talk and companionship, and help combat the loneliness they can so often feel.

As you know SCA is a Charity with the main objective to make Stoughton a better place in which to live, therefore we wish to establish ‘Friends of Stoughton’.  This simple idea, successful elsewhere, is about arranging a monthly afternoon jaunt or occasional afternoon tea in the home of another Stoughton resident. Unfortunately doctors, the police and Social Services are unable to tell us who they are because of the Data Protection Act.   With your help, perhaps we can improve this a little.

Please, either email me on mdhbell@talk21.com or telephone me on 01483 570 275, and let me know at the earliest if you know anyone this proposal will benefit and also if you yourself are willing to help as a driver or host a tea party.

Salt Dough Art Club

As you know, we are working towards getting a number of leisure activities up and running while we wait for our long promised community centre.  For younger people, aged 10 and upwards, I propose to start a ‘Salt Dough’ art club to make jewellery and various things for the home.

I will be willing to teach this craft to begin with at my home until such time as we know how many young people wish to join and my home becomes too small to accommodate them.  I propose a weekly class on Sunday mornings from 11am until 12.30 and, to cover the basic cost of materials, each class will have a cost of £1.00 – which, I trust, is affordable for most families.

All young people wishing to join should let me know by any of the contact methods given below.

Knit, Natter and Craft

By popular vote Friday evenings have been selected for this club, aimed at adult residents.  It will initially function from 7.30 pm at my home at 27 Bryanstone Avenue – until the need of bigger accommodation moves us to larger premises!

Please call me if you wish to come along.

Let’s get working together!
