Stoughton Community Association

Dear Residents

February 2008 #1

In this newsletter we have a new initiative to rejuvenate or start up some new clubs in the area.  There are also the usual planning applications that developers keep inflicting on us.

Regards

Ian Godfrey,

SCA Secretary

Clubs

SCA can help set up clubs, if you and friends, young or old, are interested.
Or if you just want to know what other clubs or classes are going on in the area.  Or if you already know anyone that would like to advertise for free through our web-site, which is easily found on google!  Just let us know.

We already have local people who want to set up clubs for:

  • 'Knit and Natter' or 'Stitch and Bitch'

  • Card making

  • Jewellery making - beading, wire, polyclay, etc.

  • Book club

  • Film club

Depending on how quickly you respond, clubs/classes can start as soon as a suitable venue is booked.

If you want to join or help please DON'T HESITATE, send an email to social@stoughtonca.org or phone Maureen on (01483) 570275.

Support the Community Centre

SCA and the Community Centre Project (SCCP) have been trying to establish a purpose-built community facility in Stoughton since 2002 when the QE Park developers promised a two-storey building.

With nowhere else to put it, the developers started building next to Budgens in QE Park with only the top floors for community use!  However it is not certain if any of it will be allowed or if it will be suitable.  With more pressure on the developers we can make them see sense.

You can download a leaflet from our web-site which you can send in to register your support for a decent purpose-built community facility to complement other facilities in the area.
