SCA Success

We have managed to ensure that all planning applications to increase the housing density (and traffic) in Stoughton and Westborough have been taken out of council officers hands and have had to be debated by our elected council members. We do this by ensuring each application has 10 objections lodged with the council. Many inappropriate applications have been subsequently turned down.

Where applications are granted, we have managed to apply conditions such as no weekend working and silencing of construction equipment in order that we can enjoy a well earned rest from the noise and disruption of development.

Our latest success is refusal for a new house at 28 Harts Hill 07/P/01063. More details can be found in SCA's planning pages.

Applications continue to roll in.  We would like to ensure all are debated by our councilors, so please help by objecting.

 Thank you for your help.

» 2 Clayton Drive, 07/P/01616, GU2 9TZ (at top end Rydes Hill)

This is infill development, will be an unacceptable distance from the bungalow at the rear and will take light from this property. It is out of character with that side and section of the road which will consist of a three-bedroomed two storey house alongside a bungalow. Entry to parking spaces will be situated on a blind corner.

All our local politicians have promised to stand against garden grabbing, so if we put it before them we should get their support.

The closing date for submitting objections is 21st August!  Please help by writing to:

The Council Planning Department or direct to:  tara.everson@guildford.gov.uk.

Alternatively you can use the online facility at: www.guildford.gov.uk/acolnet/

Support the Community Centre

SCA and the Community Centre Project (SCCP) have been trying to establish a purpose-built community facility in Stoughton since 2002 when the QE Park developers promised us a two-storey building.   The latest rumours are the developers are going to build three storeys on the space next to Budgens and want to lease the ground floor as retail units (maybe estate agents) and the top floor and attic for community use.  We have asked how all that will fit?

You can download a leaflet from our web-site which you can sign to register your support for a decent purpose-built community facility to complement other facilities in the area.
Thank-you to everyone who has already sent theirs in.
