In this newsletter, we
continue to keep you informed of the latest planning applications
and ask you to lodge your objections. Not only does your
objection count, but it also encourages local residents and shows
their community cares, as well as letting the council know we
care.

72 Waltham Avenue
07/P/01299
This is the latest garden-grabbing
development. A previous attempt by the
owner was withdrawn after many objections. More
details can be found on the SCA web-site
here.

Grounds for
objection:
|
* |
Overlooking. Even the
new houses being built in the gables will be
overlooked |
| * |
Out of keeping with its
surrounds. Bulk size and mass differs
from all houses in the close. |
| * |
Parking. Double parking as in
the plan is not practical and hence will
encourage on-street parking or cars having to
reverse onto the street. |
| * |
Developers should respect the
locale that they place houses in. This needs
to fit in with its surrounds |

Guildford Borough Council decided
to give up this valuable amenity for affordable
housing in 2003 without fully consulting
allotment users and local residents, and now
intends to proceed. Whilst Guildford needs
affordable housing, the
North Guildford Alliance believes recreational
facilities in this area are more valuable.
North Guildford has less open space per head of
population than any other part of Guildford, and
once built on, it will be lost forever. Why
should residents be forced to drive out of North
Guildford to find open space?
See
here for a summary of the council's own audit
where they admit to a shortfall of over 86 hectares
owed to residents of Guildford, equivalent to 86
full size football pitches. |

Support the Community
Centre
Against our wishes, the developers have started
preparing to build without properly informing the
council, SCCP or QEPRA. See our web-site for
breaking news.
Attached is a leaflet asking for your support for
the proposed Community Centre that is intended to
be built in QE Park, next to Budgens. Please
sign and return to the address on the
leaflet.
