Stoughton Residents Newsletter June 2007 #1

Dear Resident
Many thanks to those of you who have objected to the Manor Rd/Percy Rd development 07/P/00934 highlighted in our last newsletter.
Planning Meeting Millmead 7pm Tuesday 5th June
This is a huge meeting for Stoughton residents and community – two very big applications come before the planning committee. Headway (second hearing) in North Road and Stoughton Grange School (off Harts Gardens). These are probably the largest developments in Stoughton since QE Park and likely to have a major impact.
Please come along to Millmead to support residents close to these developments, who will undoubtedly be affected.
Your association welcomes some aspects of each development, but has already spoken against the Headway application and will appear against the Stoughton Grange School complaining that:
The size and mass of the Care home due to replace the school will dominate the rest of the immediate surrounds.
There are twenty two parking spaces for 15 workers per shift (making 30 at shift handover) 32 care beds for old people, 18 care beds for young handicapped people, 24 care apartments with an additional 21 guest bedrooms, visitors and deliveries. This follows council guidelines which are meant to force people onto public transport. We believe it will force people to park in Harts Gardens and Grange Road.
The building will overlook properties in Harts Gardens and Munro Drive.
In spite of surveys by SCC, residents do not believe that articulated transport will get through Harts Gardens – especially early in the morning.
If passed we believe in curbing development at the weekend – Stoughton deserves a rest.
The building will overlook properties in Harts Gardens and Munro Drive.
Supports Stoughton Infant’s School complaint the development takes little care for their caretaker who lives in the bungalow next to the site.
Please come to Millmead to support Stoughton and show this council we care.
