Stoughton Residents Newsletter May 2007 #1

To Stoughton Residents

Apologies for the lack of advance warning, but I have been away on business and there is a planning application that we need ten people to register objections, by May 31st Please!

Email to: tara.everson@guildford.gov.uk or log on and do it online via http://www.guildford.gov.uk/acolnet/ in both cases, please quote the application number 07/P/00934

07/P/00934  57-59, Manor Road, Guildford, GU2

Outline application for erection of six two storey dwellings with new access road following demolition of existing dwelling and outbuildings.

No. 57 Manor Road is the small workshop,

No. 59 is the house.

Both will be demolished to make way for a side road and

6 more 2‑storey houses in the garden:

The gardens of the neighbouring 10 homes (Nos. 61 to 79) are already being developed with 9 more 2-storey houses, with access from Percy Road (04/P/02068).

The following are valid planning reasons for objecting to this application:

  • The development, if similar to that off Percy Road, will be unattractive;

  • The development will be out of character with the rest of Manor Road;

  • Access into Manor Road is dangerous – and there is also a junction opposite;

  • Privacy of neighbours will be affected.

View from drive of 57

All four above points are valid planning objections.

Could you also remind local councillors that both the LibDems and Conservatives promised to fight garden grabbing!  What are they doing?

Many thanks,
