Stoughton Residents Newsletter February 2007

Fundraising
Your community needs your help! SCA has been operating for some years now on council donations but it is now time we come of age and start to stand on our own two feet. We need to raise money to keep going and to help us organise various events. Of course, we could also organise some social events to help raise money.....
So do you have a talent for organisation or just some time to help others organise some events in the Stoughton area? No previous experience is actually necessary - just bags of enthusiasm and a willingness to help the people of Stoughton. Are you willing to help us with fund raising?
If so please reply to this mail or give me a call and we will let you know more!
Traffic Protest
First of all thanks to those who turned out. I met with the Police at 7:30 and they were of the opinion that the pavements were too slippery and cars had limited visibility (they were not clearing their windscreens of ice). With these factors combined and since we are campaigning for safer conditions, I decided to call off the protest. People still congregated in the drive of number 42 and I think an enjoyable coffee morning was had by all. The presence of the police in the drive deterred some motorists from their usual habits! Thanks to the fabulous baking of Maureen and Wendy we raised £27 for Stoughton Community Association. Additionally we did get airtime on Eagle and I believe a short piece will appear in the free mid-week newspaper.
The next protest will be called to coincide with the publishing of plans for 72 Waltham Avenue development (let’s hope for better weather). Southern Counties Radio has agreed to turn up and do interviews.
Stoughton Massive – Youth Club
