Stoughton Residents Newsletter January 2007

Traffic

There will be another pavement protest on 25th January 2007 7:45am in Grange Road.  Please come and support us - refreshments will be available. The SCA Traffic Group has worked very hard and has achieved some success by raising the profile of the problem. We believe this has had an impact on some planning decisions recently, but our goal of making Grange Road safe for our residents and their children is still to be achieved.

Also, we are looking for volunteers for a local speed watch for Stoughton – you will be trained to use speed guns. Please reply to this e-mail if you want to help our small unit reduce speeding cars through Stoughton, or email chair@stoughtonca.org

Planning

Both the plans for 30 Woodbridge Hill and the Plymouth Brethren Meeting hall in Shepherds Lane have been turned down (your Association objected to both of these as being unsuitable according to GBC’s own policies).

The plans for 72 Waltham Avenue have supposedly been resubmitted. We objected to this when previously submitted on grounds of being out of character with neighbouring properties, having restricted access, insufficient parking provision and loss of privacy for the neighbours. It would be really great if we could help the residents of Waltham Avenue by all objecting to this once the plans are published.  We will keep you informed.

Road Repairs

If there are potholes in your area that need fixing a road gang will be working in our area late February – please get in touch with Pauline Searle our local councillor and she will ensure that the gang will schedule this work.
