SCA Newsletter ~ November 2006
Dear resident,
Thanks to everyone who sent in objections in response to our recent email about local planning applications. Please see the planning pages on the SCA web-site for details of which have been withdrawn, rejected or approved by the council. Below are details of other plans, plus a new application to object to.
The council housing department plan to develop the clinic at the end of North Road to provide upgraded facilities for Headway, plus five flats and five houses. To achieve this plan they have to purchase the back gardens behind 35, 37 and 39 Grange Road. SCA is ensuring that the residents of these houses are aware of their rights (thanks to Pauline Searle our local councillor). Anyone who uses North Road will look forward to this development, although an exit into Grange Road could be a possibility.
Northmead School Development
The development of 16 houses on school land behind number 44 Grange Road has been shelved. Hopefully local pressure was at least partly responsible.
Planning Application 06/P/02316
Demolition of hairdressing shop at 30 Woodbridge Hill. Replacing current three storeys with four – a new shop and five flats. Car spaces for 7 spaces (one disabled). SCA feels this application should not go ahead for the following reasons:

Community Safety - Vandalism in Queen Elizabeth Park
There have been several incidents of young people hanging around Budgens and generally terrorising the residents of QEP. Please report suspicious activity to the Police as soon as possible (0845 125 2222 (the Police control room).
In the light of the decision about the Northmead Development, we are hoping to reopen negotiations with the school about a drop off point.
We are also hoping to form a more productive relationship with the new SCC Council Officer in charge of highways for our area, once he is appointed.
Stoughton Community Centre - SCCP
Construction plans were approved on 4th April, however QE Park developers are still negotiating over legal details with the council, and we continue to demand action. SCA-SCCP is also waiting for the developers to provide details of building costs, which we need to allow us to apply for various funding.
In the meantime, SCA will be applying for charitable status.
