1 Rob Smith 7-12 10 pts 2 Danny Hope 3-4 9 pts 3 Gary Hope 1-14 8 pts 4 Rob Shearing 0-9 7 pts 5 Colin Hope 0-8 6 pts 6 Richard Thomson 0-2 5 pts ( Also caught a pike of 17-12 but unfortunately doesn't count) Juniors: 1 Ryan hope 0-8 2= Jamie Smith & Dale Shearing 0-5 The fish of the match was Richard Thomson's 17-12 pike which was landed on light pole tackle after a 30 minute battle. It took a single maggot on a size 22 hook and 0.08 (1.67 lb)line and size 2 elastic! It was hooked squarely in the top lip and could hardly fit in the small match landing net. After 2 attempts Gary Hope managed to somehow get it half in the net and landed it. Best of the rest was Rob Smith's 271 small roach on pinkie over groundbait. There were a few pike showing which probably accounts for the low weights.

Results of Angling Times Supercup 1st round Feb 18th Churchgate top & bottom lakes Rettendon: Collier Row A.C. v Churchgate Lords v Galleywood Social Club. After 3 weeks of practice the Collier Row team knew they would have their work cut out. Practice didn't go well with hardly any bags of fish being caught. The opposing teams were also practicing and seemed to be doing ok. The 2 lakes were, in my opinion, very fair with lots of weights quite close to each other. The results are below: Churchgate Lords 25 points Galleywood social 22 points Collier Row A.C. 11 points Individually, Alan Taylor (Galleywood) had top weight on the day with an incredible 112 pounds of carp and silvers - great fishing! Better luck next year Collier Row. Pete Milano had 5 small roach and Richard had 1 roach. Afterwards the band of merry men sampled the fine ales of the Woodman public house. Lovely!

But He came up trumps because he won the day with 6 carp and 2 bream. Breakfast was served at 7. Tony managed to cook 40 breakfasts on his own before 8.30! Some going!! A lot of Ide showed which helped bump up the weights. . The weather was very mild and sunny.

The fishing was very good! The wind was blowing from the East but that didn't stop the fish from feeding. A new C.R.A.C. match record was recorded by Rob Smith. It was carp, carp, and more carp for everyone. A few tench and roach and rudd were also caught by various members. The carp seemed to average about a pound each although bigger samples were also caught. No one had to go swimming to retrieve his top kit this time ! The bigger carp seemed to be caught from the windward bank. A total weight of 1053-8 was caught. ( Steve Blower gets his fiver back off Jim Morgan !). Just thought I'd mention it!

An excellent day's fishing despite the weather throwing the worst. Strong wind , thunderstorms, hailstones and bright sunshine! The catches were predominantly carp with a few tench and rudd. Most anglers fished paste close in for the carp. Carl cook, a junior member, did exceptionally well beating most of the adults with a telescopic rod and waggler! John Stepton caught most of his fish on feeder. Steve Blower managed to lose a fiver with a side bet with his mate Jim Morgan. Close (ish). Better luck next time!

This was a 'off the beaten track' venue. The lake is part of a complex in Stock, near Billaricay. There are 3 lakes and we fished the match lake. Upon arrival, carp were everywhere to be seen. The match started at 9.15 and straight away, Carp were being caught. However , it didn't last. The carp seemed to 'switch off' and it was a struggle from then on. However, it is a good venue with a good stock of fish and a toilet on site. Fish of the match ( and probably fish of the year) was Gary Hope's perch of 3-0. I believe it is a club match record!.

The sun shone and the fish fed for the first junior match this year. Star of the day was young Ryan Hope who had to go to a wedding straight after the match . Most Juniors caught carp with the odd golden orfe as well. Everyone enjoyed themselves and some new skills were learnt. Many thanks to Preston innovations, MAP, Fox and Daiwa for the donated prizes. They will be presented by the chairman after the second match in August.

The match was originally supposed to be on Puddle dock Road lake but due to a double booking it was fished on Horseshoe lake. Conditions were windy. Very windy. The main fish caught was carp, fantails and skimmers and the odd proper bream. Most of the fish were caught in the margins because of the wind. very windy.
