Cadet Uniform

Every cadet is provided with a uniform for free.  Because the RAF is the parent service of the Air Training Corps, we share it's uniform.  Therefore, we are expected to wear uniform on every parade night, and all Air Cadet events.  

 There are three levels of uniform.  All items marked * are issued to cadets before they are enrolled.

 1.      Working Blues

This is the normal day-to-day uniform, worn on most parade nights and for most events.  The following items make up the Working Blues uniform :-

§         Parade Shoes

§         Black socks (‘barely black’ tights for female cadets)

§         Belt *

§         RAF Grey/Blue Trousers or Skirt *

§         Working Blue (Dark Blue) Shirt *

§         Jumper (September-May) *

§         Beret *

§         Brassard *

 

2.      Wedgwood Blues

This uniform is normally worn for inspections and special occasions.  It consists of :-

§         Parade Shoes

§         Black Socks (‘barely black’ tights for female cadets)

§         RAF Grey/Blue Trousers or Skirt *

§         Belt *

§         Wedgwood Blue (Light Blue) Shirt *

§         Tie *

§         Jumper (September-May) *

§         Beret *

§         Brassard *

 

A Dark Blue Waterproof Jacket is issued to cadets to use on outdoor events and for travelling to and from the Squadron.

 

3.      DPM

This uniform is to be worn for Night Exercises, Shooting and Camouflage / Concealment Exercises.  These items of uniform are not issued but many are available for loan.

§         Combat Boots

§         DPM (disrupted pattern material) or Olive Green trousers

§         Olive green shirt

§         Olive green ribbed jumper

§         Combat Jacket

§         Beret *
