From The Vaults
All these were taken using one of those cheap Kodak Instamatic's and then left on the floor for twenty odd  years before being scanned in and shoved on the 'net'.  I have to say that some of these photos have survived better than some of us!  As i find more i will add them. Last updated on
Enjoy folks.

Max played at all the Cambridge venues, here is Max doing a late seventies bash at the Cambridge University Press Sports and Social Club.
Roger Stern & Phil - Howard Mallet Soul Club.
Note the distinctive painting on the walls, all done i think by local Art students(?).  I always felt that the Mallet was one of our more Modern Venues it not being so  old (pokey/dingey/crap) as most of the Halls/Social clubs etc that we frequented in those days.
The layout was on three floors 'Gallery style', plenty of seating and chill areas, and a fine bar!  It had an atmosphere of it's own and i spent several years of my life going there....fond memories.

Click to view full-screen or use the right click menu Skip (sadly no longer with us) seen here with Liz Middleton was a DJ from the city of Norwich.
Skip played at the Mallet as well as other venues in and around East Anglia and is credited with the discovery of the classic 'Candie Staton - You got the upper hand'.
Stephen Bounden and myself at the house of that well known DJ PJtheDJ (Peter Syrotinski).  Peter was in the process of decorating his walls with the contents of the endless 'Soul packs' he purchased during this period (still does). Click to view full-screen or use the right click menu

Johnny, Wol, Me and Andy Gates at Johnnys flat Mawson Rd Cambridge.  Thanks go to Johnny for this photo, i actually remember this photo being taken and i also remember Wol getting annoyed with me trying to steal his food! Click to view full-screen or use the right click menu

Talking of PJtheDJ (Pete Syrotinski) here he is in all his glory sporting the very latest in 'Soul pack wear'.  Pete was then residing at De'Freville Avenue and much of the music streamed from this site comes  from the cassette tapes we recorded then.
Twenty years on and put to good use.

This is Ian Costen now (above) and Ian caught on camera one night down the Still and sugarloaf (far left).
This is a rare photo of 'The Rambler' (left) not immediately buying a 'White label demo' that had come within range of his wallet.  Sitting with him (right) is PJtheDJ most likely trying to talk him into buying one of his 'Soul packs'. Click to view full-screen or use the right click menu
