Nat West Bank 0 - 6 Old Parkonians
(Southern Amateur League)
In perfect conditions, Parks easily took all three points
in this second
division SAL game on Saturday, to take them to third in the
table.
Parks started briskly in the bright sunshine and were soon
on top of their
hosts. Kemp created the first chance for Kuroriji after 5
minutes curling
in a low cross, only to see the centre forward strike the
bar. A heavy
period of Parks' pressure in the first twenty minutes culminated
in the
first goal for the visitors. Pascoe worked himself free down
the left and
laid the ball back to Mason, whose left footed cross was nodded
home by
Knapman. Jamieson had a fine half, and although Parks spurned
some easy
chances, always looked capable of creating more.
Nicholls, on his return to the side, marshalled the defensive
pair of Kenny
and Bernstein well, and Parks continued to dominate and create
chances
without converting. Parks took their foot off the pedal for
the remainder
of the half, and although Nat West never really troubled Turner
in the
visitors' goal, this was certainly their best period of the
game. At the
break, Parks looked very comfortable and were well worth their
1-0
advantage.
In the second half, Parks turned up the pressure and played
some fine
attacking football, to kill off Nat West's challenge in the
first ten
minutes of the second period. Mason and Bostock excelled in
the centre of
the park, and it was another Mason cross which led to the
second. Kuforiji
rose to head home the first of an impressive hat-trick, and
followed it up
minutes later by intercepting a back pass to double his personal
tally, and
hit Parks third.
Collins replaced Nicholls, and was soon involved, feeding
Pascoe, whose shot
was parried. Quickest to the rebound, Pascoe drove the ball
across the goal
from the byline and before Kemp could turn it in, the Nat
West centre half
did the job for him. Kemp was dominating the right flank for
Parks and was
unlucky not to score his first goal in the 1's, his effort
being ruled out
for offside, with the ball already in the back of the net.
The fifth for
Parks was Kuroriji's third, cooly taken by the youngster,
to take his haul
to six in three games.
Pascoe capped a fine return to the first team with a driving
run and shot,
cutting inside onto his left foot and leaving the home keeper
grasping air
once again. A fine team performance and their best win of
the season takes
Parks to their highest league placing in this campaign. Parks
look to next
week now, to continue this rich vein of form in the Essex
AFA Cup semi
final.
