Old Parkonians 2-1 Bank of England (Southern Amateur League)

Parks secured their second consecutive victory with a hard earned win in difficult conditions. B of E started the better of the two teams with Jamieson having to head off of the line in the first ten minutes. A scrappy spell ensued as neither side could hold onto the ball long enough to create any real chances. The turning point in the game came ten minutes before half-time when Nicholls scythed down the B of E forward in the area conceding a penalty. He hotly disputed this decision but obviously his conscience got the better of him as he bought a jug of bitter which the lads gladly accepted!! The penalty was duly placed about SIX yards wide of the goal and a few shouts of 'JUSTICE' were heard as far away as Roehampton. Parks began to up the tempo slightly and there was a few tasty challenges flying about in the slippery conditions.

0-0 at half time and Parks then enjoyed their best spell of the game. With Bernstein and Celotto pushing more and more forward and putting in a couple of good crosses, the pressure began to mount. It paid off when Mason's low skidding cross was superbly met on the half volley by the left boot of Pascoe and the ball flew into the top corner. This provoked a response and within ten minutes when Parks offside trap was breached the B of E player found himself with the simple task of lobbing the ball past the exposed Turner. Turner then produced a fantastic double save against an onrushing forward. Almost immediately after this with just ten minutes remaining a Parmenter corner was turned in at the near post by Pascoe who had got in front of his man. Parks then proceeded to do what we couldn't last season and that involved Mason and Parmenter taking the ball towards the corner flag and just standing there like any good Premiership team would!
