Bank of England 2 - 0 Old Parkonians
(Southern Amateur League)
After a nightmare car journey Parks just managed to make the kick
off time. Not ideal preparation for the worlds largest football
pitch and vital promotion clash. In a cagey start neither side created
much with the game contained in the middle of the park. Knapman
had a long range effort which clipped the top of the bar but that
was all Parks could muster. Bank slowly began to chip away at the
Parks defence and shortly after hitting a post, Kenny's over zealous
challenge gave Bank a penalty which was duly converted 5 minutes
before the break. Again the second half was a close hard fought
affair but Parks started to create some half chances with Chadwick
firing over when he should have done better. But as Parks pressed
forward Bank started to make chances on the break. Turner was quickly
off his line to thwart one chance but with quarter of an hour to
go hesitation in the Parks defence enabled Bank to score the crucial
second goal. Parks valiantly battled on but found the 5 minute journey
from one end of the pitch to the other too much. This leaves Parks
needing to win all their remaining games and hope that Bank slip
up.
