Sunday 2nd November and Pride of Bilbao faced bottom of the league Kings Park who still cant win a game (Losers). The night before it was raining all day so the grass was moist just like my girlfriend the night before. The boys where confident with only 11 men even though Bilbao were suffering with injuries (Wilf Twisted his ankle). Neil parker the captain lost the toss (once again), so we had the centre kick, Ross kicked off but decided to shoot, we all knew he is not strong enough to reach the goal as it trickled to the goalkeeper.
The game was poor but Bilbao were all over Kings Park, Denney and Calver had a few chances but were unable to finish them, but in the 12th minute the ball was pumped up the pitch which was won by Ross who took on a player on the edge of the area and saw Phil Legge free, the pass was good Phil took his white predator boot back to shoot or so we thought, instead passed out wide to Jenkins who crossed to the back post where Calver was waiting with delight to head in Bilbao's 1st.
A thumping shot from Denny went screaming into the back of the net to give Bilbao a 2-0 lead. Bilbao started to play well, there was some great running from Jenkins down the wing but no one was there to receive the cross. Later on Kings Park had a break through our solid defence and there fat forward had a 1 on 1 with big boy John (yes girls we do call him because of that!) back from retirement, John came out and dived on the ball but the fat git had other ideas and went in with two feet. John was down with mild concussion but he knew he had to play on.
By now the opposition where getting cross and every time Neil Parker went to get the ball players fell over knowing that they where not good enough to take him on. The whistle blow for half time Pride of Bilbao 2 Kings Park 0.
The Manager came over for team talk the players where tired as most of them play pro football. The 2nd half was on its way and to give them credit Kings Park where all over Bilbao. But Bilbao soon got back to being the composer and started the pressure back up. Denny took the ball down the left side and knocks the ball past their player and as the 2nd fastest player in the team runs onto the ball beats another 2 players and slots the ball home. Bilbao were leading 3-0 and put the pressure on, Denny knocking the ball past the Kings Park centre back was kicked off the pitch and back to Addlestone, The ref could only give him his 2nd yellow and Kings Park are down to 10. The game was all over for them now Bilbao had control of all the game except a lucky break for Kings Park which was saved of the line by Phil Legge then on the other side again by Chris Jones which was then cleared by Richard Sutton. The game was nearly over and should of been when a cross by Andy Jenkins rolled along the goal line to Ross Reynolds, the player little boys want to be like missed, YES MISSED! right on the line he could of smiled at it and it would of gone in but no he missed!! The game ends Kings Park 0 Pride of Bilbao 3.
