| 21st January 2012 | Family Quiz Night - Wow! Initial indications are that we raised a total sum of £360 profit from last nights quiz. Couldn't have asked for a better turn-out and result. Many thanks to all those who attended. We hope you had a good time |
| 29th December 2011 | Christmas Paddle - Well done to the 31 paddlers that took part in our annual Christmas paddle. For the first time in 3 years we were able to paddle the complete loop (as the canal wasn't frozen). There was one or two near misses on the weir and then back to the Boathouse for jacket spud and stew. Thank you to the staff at the pub for the excellent servive and food. |

| 15th October 2011 | Congratulations - to John Toussaint who received an award for "Services to Paddlesport" from Canoe England. John (a former chairman of Ibstock Canoe Club) has been personally responsible for introducing, coaching and developing many many paddlers over the years (myself included) - A very well deserved award |
| 8th-9th October 2011 | Canoe Camping on the Soar - Day 1: As we only had 11 miles to paddle, we set off mostly paddling solo with camping kit. Multiple weirs, shallows and even trees across the river slowed our progress. We had the chance to practice "polling" and even managed to cut through some trees with our saws before arriving at Quorn Hall as darkness was falling. The showers and changing rooms were very appreciated. Day 2: started perfectly with warm temperatures and calm waters. At lunchtime, the wind gathered and the river became more exposed. Soon we were bearly able to paddle against the wind and we were forced to paddle tandem and tow boats. At the next inviting pub a decision was made to call it a day and so we ended our adventure earlier than planned but what a fantastic weekend had. |

| 21st May 2011 | Family Fun Day - Our fun day at Albert Village Lake was a great success with lots of family and friends turning up to support us by buying burgers or cakes and having a go on the tombola (not to mention those who braved the paddling). One or two swimmers added to the fun. A huge thank you to the National Forest Charitable Trust for allowing us access to the lake and also to all the organisers and helpers. We managed to raise £158 for our club. Congratulations to the young paddlers that passed there 1 star. |

The weather was perfect and the paddlers made easy work of the tricky weirs which saw many others swimming. Thanks to Burton Canoe Club for organsing the access. |
| 27th February 2011 | Llangollen - The river was high and Serpent's Tail was furious. 11 of us were wrapped up and ready to tackle the river Dee. A couple of swims and entertainment provided by Steve at Serpent's Tail made this a great trip. |
