We've reached our target

I AM delighted to be able to report that with the generous donations already made, pledges received and gifts of items for the new Breast Care Unit, the Pink Rose Appeal will shortly reach its target.

This means that apart from events already organised no further fund raising will be necessary, for this specific appeal, after 31st of May which is the dead-line for the return of sponsor forms and money for the Pink Rose Appeal Walk.

Collecting boxes should be sent to the Breast Care Unit by that date.

The phenomenal success of the appeal in raising the funds so quickly has been due to the hard work of many many people, the generous support of the local community, the backing of the local media especially the Grimsby Telegraph, the courage and support of patients, their relatives and friends, but not least to the high regard in which Leslie Donaldson and his team at the Breast Care Unit are held.

It has been heart warming to witness and be part of the “Pink Rose Appeal Mania” that has gripped the area over the past few months.

On behalf of the Pink Rose Appeal Committee, I wish to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank ALL the people, businesses and organisations who have been involved in and donated so generously to the Appeal - they know who they are.

The response has been humbling and overwhelming - thank you for ensuring that Grimsby and the surrounding areas will have one of the finest Breast Care Units in the country, which we expect to open later this summer.

P.S. There has always been a breast unit charitable fund, which has been used to keep up to date with developments and replace equipment with the latest models etc. This account will remain open and we propose to call it the "The Pink Rose Fund" for those who wish to give their support in the future.
