Phil Gilman (Uebach - Palenberg Germany)

I was born in 1950 in Chaddesden. When I was old enough I used to spend Saturdays wither watching football on the racecourse or in the summer if they were playing in Derby ,I would be watching DCCC.

In 1959 my Dad took me to watch the Rams for the very first time. The opponents were the 'Boro and I think we lost 7-1 with Peacock scoring 4 and a certain Brian Clough 2. I am not really sure of these details .

This did not put me off at all and I have been following the Rams ever since. During the sixties and seventies I was a season ticket holder ,but I joined the RAF in 1967 and found it sometimes difficult to get to matches.

I did ,however, manage to get to some memorable games ,such as 3-0 against Benfica,5-0 against Spurs (largest ever crowd) with a fantastic save by Les Green from I think Gilzean, 8-2 also against Spurs.

There were plenty of others, but these stood out the most. I have been living in Germany now for the last twenty years and therefore my visits are very few and far between, however, I was present at the game against Soton for my very first visit to PRIDE PARK.
