Tabula Rasa:
Buffy is out on patrol in a graveyard. Spike comes up from behind her, saying he wants to talk, specifically about the kiss they shared. Buffy tries to avoid him and the topic by walking away from him. She says she never wants to kiss or touch him again. Suddenly, she jumps on top of him, saving him from a flying stake. Two vamps and a demon (a land shark, no joke) are after Spike. Spike owes the Landshark demon some kittens (20 Siamese.) Remember, demons use kittens for currency. Buffy protects Spike from the vampires and the Landshark, impressed, tries to offer her some freelance work. Buffy declines the offer and Spike takes off.
Giles tells Buffy that he's leaving Sunnydale. At the house, Tara and Dawn are waiting for Willow to get ready to go to the shop. Willow is still in towels from her shower, so she sends them ahead of her. She then uses magic to dress and then casts a spell to make both Buffy and Tara forget…a Tabula Rasa spell, stronger than the last one. The focus of the spell is the fire in the fireplace and a crystal which Willow keeps in her pocket. Back at the house, the fire is out and all the ingredients are burnt up. The rest of the gang fall to the floor in the Magic Box and continue to
sleep well past the sun setting. Buffy awakens first and turns on the light which wakes the others. All of them are looking around, unsure of where they are or who they are. Willow was lying on the ground with Xander while Giles was leaning against Anya. No one remembers anything. They start to look around; Willow and Tara realize that they're in a magic shop. Buffy instinctively protects Dawn, Spike thinks he and Giles are father and son. Anya thinks that her and Giles are engaged since they woke up together and she's wearing a ring. Willow realizes that they can use they're Driver's licenses to discover their identities. Willow, Tara, Giles, and Tara find out they're names from their Ids. Willow, wearing Xander's jacket, thinks that they're dating. Spike finds a name inside his jacket; he believes that he's Randy Giles. Anya discovers that her and Giles own the shop together. Buffy, not knowing her name, talks with Dawn, who discovers her name by an ID necklace. Buffy decides to take the name Joan. After bickering, they discover that they must be sisters. Basically everyone is confused and this is not helped when the Shark demon sends his vamps after Spike/Randy and in all the ensuing madness Willow falls on top of Tara and the crystal falls from her pocket. Xander steps on the crystal, breaking the spell. Buffy gets kicked around and Spike tries to help, but he's knocked down too. Xander, Dawn and Tara all realize what Willow has done. Tara can't even look Willow in the eyes, which is good because she starts to cry. At the Bronze, Michelle Branch performs "Goodbye to You". The rest of the scenes are shown with the music playing in the background. Buffy is sitting at the counter, staring into space. At the house, Tara is packing her clothes. Willow is in another room, leaning against the wall, crying. Giles is onboard a plane, leaving for England. Spike approaches Buffy, but she turns away from him; he walks away defeated. Tara is taking her stuff out of the house where Dawn is standing. When Tara movers to hug her goodbye, Dawn runs into the house. Buffy gets up form the counter. Then, in a back corner of the bronze, we see Buffy and Spike making out.

Smashed:

Back at the house, Willow is still upset over Tara leaving. She starts to play with the Amy-rat, promising her that if she could find a way to turn her back, she would. Willow then has an idea, literally conjures a spell out of thin air, casts it, and turns Amy back to human. A startled, and naked Amy looks around the room and screams.
The Nerd-Trio break into the Sunnydale museum and steal a large diamond. Phase one of the plan is complete, they say. Back at the house, Willow starts to nurse a confused Amy back to health. Buffy comes back home and starts to talk with Willow about making choices when Amy comes into the room. A news story about the frozen guard interrupts their talk and Buffy goes to the crime scene to investigate. Walking around the side of the museum, she runs into Spike who says he's there to investigate too. Spike tries to convince her that he can change. She hits him and he hits her back. He realizes, as Buffy lies on the ground, that he didn't feel any pain from the chip. Spike, realizing that the chip may finally no longer be working, puts an evil smile on his face as Buffy walks away. He walks the streets of Sunnydale, feeling he can hunt for the first time in years. He sees a target, a young girl, and corners her in an alley. He vamps out and lunges for her neck when the chip kicks in and shocks him away from the girl. Spike has no idea what's going on. Tara and Dawn are hanging out in the park, having a Milkshake and Movie Fun day. Tara tells Dawn that her moving out had nothing to do with her and that she will always be there for her.
At the Magic Shop, Xander, Anya, Buffy, and Willow are investigating the security guard frozen event. Willow lays her hands on the laptop and uses Magic to surf the Internet to get the police files on the crime. She discovers the diamond theft and that the police are
withholding some info from the press. Spike goes to Warren's house, which is the HQ of the Nerd-Trio, to have Warren look at his chip. He convinces the group to help him by threatening to break a limited edition Boba Fett action figure.Warren examines Spikes chip and tells him that the chip is working fine. Spike at first doesn't believe him, and then accepts it. He now knows they're nothing wrong with him, something's wrong with Buffy. At the shop, Xander, Anya, and Buffy try to find the demon frost monster that eats diamonds. Spike calls Buffy on the phone, telling her to meet him at the cemetery. Spike's pissed that she didn't show up at the cemetery and tries to provoke her into fighting with him. Buffy finally hits him and Spike hits her back. Buffy stares wide-eyed at the fact that Spike no longer feels pain when her hits her. At first, she thinks he got rid of the chip, but then Spike tells her, "Don't you get it? You came back wrong." Spike and Buffy's fight turns from violence to passion as they throw each other around the room, trading kisses. The house starts to fall apart as Buffy unzips Spike pants. The episode ends with the two having sex as the house falls apart around them.
