One of 15 prototype trolleybuses bought for Portsmouth Corporation for evaluation purposes prior to a bulk order being placed
Originally numbered 1 but in 1939, with the rest of the trolleybus fleet, had 200 added to its fleet number. This was intended to provide an
indication to a following trolleybus driver that the vehicle in front was also a trolleybus should they contemplate overtaking
Withdrawn 1958 and stored in Eastney depot
Sold locally in 1960 and presented later the same year to the Montague Motor Museum, Beaulieu where it was displayed in the open air (the body’s timber framework suffered accordingly)
Acquired by Portsmouth City Museums Department in 1972
Formally with CPPTD at Broad Street Portsmouth until March 03
Formally housed at the Milestones Museum, Basingstoke

Leyland TD2 Tower Wagon no.TW1 (RV3411).
Built 1933 for Portsmouth Corporation as bus no.17 with English Electric 50-seat double deck body
Converted to tower wagon in 1953 to enable work to be carried out on the trolleybus overhead wires
Used as a tree lopper and for street lighting maintenance after trolleybus services ceased in 1963
Withdrawn 1975
