Portsmouth Corporation 8 - RV6368

Leyland "Titan" TD4 built 1935

English Electric 50 seat open-top double-decker

Owned by: Portsmouth City Museums & Record Service

Originally delivered as a normal closed top vechicle as no.125. It was converted to open-top in 1955 for use on Southsea Seafront, it is one of 4 similarly treated, the others being RV 6358, RV 6360 & RV 6368, all of which are also in preservation. No. 125 was renumbered no.8 in 1958 and was eventually withdrawn in 1971, passing into Portsmouth City Musuems transport collection in 1972.

In 1984/5 it was restored to working order, and repainted into its original livery, by members of the local Vintage Transport Association, and is now looked after at CPPTD. In 2000 the engine gave up and was stripped down and rebuilt.

RV6368 is currently housed at the Milestones Museum, Basingstoke.
