Brief description: A close up of the figure of Silvius Brabo on top the fountain in the Grote Markt The fountain was made by the sculptor Jef Lambeaux in celebration of the legend of of a the brutal giant Druoon Antigoon. Who would extract a terrible revenge from those sailors who refused to pay his toll for using the Scheldt river. He would cut off their hands. Brabo killed the giant and cut off the giants hand and threw into the river. It is from that alleged act that the myth of how the city got its name.
