Brief description: The present bridge was originally built in
the 13th century. During this time it has been damaged
several times always being rebuilt afterwards. Most of the
damage was done to protect the inhabitants of the city from
invading armies.
An original bridge was built by the Romans, which was
situated about 200 meters to the south. Recently remains of
this bridge have been found on the bottom of the river
"Maas".
The photograph was taken from the more modern
Wilhelminabrug.
